The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for much of the Houston area Thursday.
The watch includes Harris, Fort Bend, Waller, Colorado, Austin and Wharton counties and lasts until 10 a.m. Two other flash flood warnings were also issued, the first for Fort Bend, Harris and Waller counties in the Katy area that lasts until 9:45 a.m.

A near-stationary storm dumped upwards of six inches of rain near Katy in the last 12 hours, according to the Harris County Flood Warning System. Communities near Willowbrook received more than five inches, while communities south and north of those areas received less than an inch.
This is due to showers staying in place over those areas, providing little relief from the deluge.
Rain will continue in Greater Houston throughout Thursday and into Friday, when rain chances decrease to 20 percent.
